If you are here, chances are you know what you came here for. But if you just stumbled upon us,then chances are you don't know what we are. In simple terms, we are a satellite orbits visualization
website for various satellite groups (called constellations).
If you click any of the satellite constellations
below, you will be taken to a page with a globe (Earth) and points with varying colors around that globe. These points,
which will be moving around the globe, denote satellite positions at certain times of the day.
The exact time of the satellite over a position can be seen on the bottom left dial of the globe page.
These points are moving at x40 animation speed, which can be adjusted
at the bottom left corner using the dial. There is a catch though - the further a satellite is from Earth, the
longer it will take to complete a revolution around Earth. So don't be surprised when the satellites are moving slowly.
You can even reduce the animation speed to x0, meaning the position and speed of the satellite
will be in real time. To get more details about each satellite, you can
simply click a satellite (which appears as a point), and a popup box will show you the details of the clicked satellite in the top right corner.
You can also customize the information shown on the globe using the top right or left corner.
To go back to this page, simply click the name SpaceTrail.net at the top left corner of the page
after expanding the Options button.
Happy exploration!
Starlink constellation is one of the mega constellation deployed to provide internet using LEO(Low Earth Orbit) satellites. It is one of the satellite constallation with a lot of satellites in orbit compared to any others ever deployed.
OneWeb Constellation is currently being deployed to provide internet services using LEO(Low Earth Orbit) satellites. It is interesting since, almost all of its satellites are in polar orbits.
Iridium constellation used for providing internet using LEO satellites.
Iridium-NEXT constellation used for providing internet using LEO satellites.
Combination of all Global Navigation satellite systems, used to provide navigational data.
Global Positional Satellite(GPS) constellation with only current operationg satellites.
Galileo navitagional satellite constellation.
Beidou navigational satellite constellation.
GLONAS satellite constellation with only currently operating satellites.
Swarm satellite constellation provides IOT connectivity.
Orbcomm satellites are used for connectivity solution through satellites.
Globalstar satellites are used for connectivity solution through satellites.
Amateur satellites used for amateur radio broadcasting.
SatNOGS is global network of open source ground stations.
Intelsat satellites used for communications.
SES satellites used to provide communications using 2 orbital shells in GEO and MEO.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA) satellites used for earth observation and imaging.
Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite Program used for Earth observation.
All operational cubesats satellites.
Space stations in orbit around Earth.
In this group, all active satellites can be visible. Note that, there are a lot of active satellites, so you will have to be a bit patient, as the website is rendering them on a globe.
